Favorite Moments:

Manchester United scores twice in the last 3 minutes to win the biggest prize in club football, beating a powerful Bayern Munich team 2-1. They had been outplayed for the first 80 minutes but started clicking in the last 10. Improbable, impossible, magical. I still get chills thinking about it.

To the Triumphal March from Verdi's Aida, Italy was crowned World Champion for the fourth time in Berlin's Olympic stadium on Sunday after beating a French team fatally weakened by the dismissal of playmaker Zinedine Zidane, sent off in disgrace from the match that should have marked the glorious end to his career.
Zidane, the most gifted footballer of his generation, handed France the final, and then took it away again. Ten minutes before the end of extra time, with France dominating an exhausted Italy and the two teams level at 1-1, he headbutted Italian defender Marco Materazzi in the chest after an exchange of words between the two.
It was an astonishing loss of control for a player of such experience, named FIFA Footballer of the Year three times, who won the World Cup for France in 1998, the European Championship in 2000 and the Champions League with Real Madrid in 2002.
