Bears at Wrigley
Found at http://www.justonebadcentury.com/ It's often said that Wrigley Field has never seen a championship. That's true when it comes to the Cubs, but don't forget that another team played at Wrigley Field for more than 50 years, and that team won 8 titles: The Chicago Bears. The Bears played at Wrigley Field from 1921-1970, and won NFL championships in 1921, 1932, 1933, 1940, 1941, 1943, 1946, 1963. Four of those championships were actually won at Wrigley. In 1933, they beat the Giants 23-21 at Wrigley Field. They won two weeks after Pearl Harbor on December 21, 1941 at Wrigley Field in front of the smallest crowd ever for a Championship game (Bears 37-Giants 9). They beat the Redskins in the championship game of 1943, 41-21 at Wrigley Field (behind star quarterback Sid Luckman). And the last one played at Wrigley was on December 28, 1963. Commissioner Rozelle asked Halas to move the game to Soldier Field in case it got dark (remember? no lights), but Halas refused. The Bears beat the Giants 14-10. It was nine degrees at kickoff. The Bears have only been playing their home games at Soldier Field since 1971. That means they still need to play at Soldier Field for another decade before they equal the number of years they played at Wrigley Field. For those of you too young to remember, it looked a lit bit like this...
