Ryan Malone had a breakaway with less than 30 seconds to play in a 3-3 hockey game in Philadelphia earlier this evening. Scott Hartnell, in an attempt to deter Malone, threw his glove at him, which led to a penalty shot. Luckily for the Flyers, goaltender Martin Biron was able to make the save on the penalty shot, but this move by Hartnell automatically qualifies as a nomination for dumbest play of the year.
